I'm confounded by what my host said about the pink towels. I find it quite easy to be a reasonable and considerate guest, especially in a country with as few language barriers as England. Part of it, I am sure, is not having an expectation that I should be treated as royalty, and not having a mindset that says I should treat my hosts as servants.

I can understand in hotels that I might expect a higher level of service, but the beauty of the B-and-B is that it is not a hotel; the relationship is much closer to staying with cousins or other family.
